THE H.U.B.
Welcome to the Trenton Center for Healing Unity and Belonging, Inspiring Youth & Community Through Hope and Creative Change. This Restorative & Transformative Justice Hub (The HUB), a sanctuary for healing, growth, and community empowerment. The HUB aims to provide a community gathering space that serves as an alternative to traditional justice systems by focusing on healing, accountability, and community involvement.
Emphasis on being a neutral partner in restoring relationships and addressing the root causes of conflict rather than punitive measures. We are dedicated to creating spaces where harm can be addressed, trust can be rebuilt, and transformation is possible for all.
WHAT IS RESTORATIVE & TRANSFORMATIVE JUSTICE?
Restorative & Transformative Justice is a system that brings victims, community members, and youth who have committed harm together to discuss the harm that was done and explore solutions to address the root cause of that harm. This system presents an alternate avenue for addressing harm and encourages active participation in the restorative process to facilitate stronger community relationships and community-driven public safety;
Transformative justice addresses conflicts and harms at the individual level, community level, and within broader social structures. Transformative justice works to build alternatives to our current systems and transform the conditions which help create acts of violence or make them possible;
Restorative and transformative justice offer two different perspectives of justice aimed at interpersonal and consensual resolutions, with transformative justice also incorporating systems-level change;
COMMUNITY IMPACT.
Designed to address issues such as harm, juvenile justice, and interpersonal conflicts in a way that fosters long-term healing and understanding. Seeks to empower communities to play an active role in justice processes, enhancing trust and collaboration.
